Recently, Indianapolis Water (Viola) introduced a new Cross Connection Test form. This form is REQUIRED. No substitutions are accepted. We have had several irrigation contractors reported rejected forms.

Irrigation System Permits

There are a wide variety of permits required for the installation of a lawn irrigation system throughout Indiana. We, the Indiana Irrigation Contractor Council is trying to put these rules, regulations, and permitting requirements in one place.

City of Lawrence Lawn Irrigation Permit

The City of Lawrence, Indiana requires a contractor license and a lawn irrigation system license. Irrigation systems are not permitted in the city’s right-of-way.

City of Westfield Lawn Irrigation Permit

The City of Westfield, Indiana requires a permit for the installation of a lawn irrigation system. Additionally, an encroachment permit is required for irrigation sprinklers installed in the city’s right-of-way between the curb and the sidewalk.

City of Noblesville Encroachment Permit

The City of Noblesville requires an Encroachment Permit for the installation of irrigation sprinklers between the curb and sidewalk.

City of Carmel Irrigation System Permits & Recommendations

The City of Carmel Utilities requires the irrigation system tap be at least five feet (5′) outside of the meter pit.
